So around 40 out of 200 of us (including me) haven't been placed yet...and the first serial day is thursday...just got an email saying some of us will end up missing the first two serial days! I feel that as I only get 4 weeks this time round because of being a primary languages person wheras the other peeps get 6 weeks, maybe they should have tried to put us lot in first because we have less time in school as it is and now might miss two more days. I guess it means I might have two days off this week which will be good for catching up with reading/shopping etc as am away this weekend BUT am so eager to get into a classroom and start really training now and whilst the PG director says missing them won't be an issue and that every year it happens, I do feel like we wouldn't have them scheduled in the first place if they weren't important? I am really enjoying the course and I know that the Uni has a lot of people to place and wouldn't want that job...but with regards to organisation i feel they let themselves down a little...part of me thinks hang on they've been doing this for how many years now and it's not one or two people not placed yet its nearly a quarter of people! It just seems a little crazy that they can't, with all their years of sorting out placements, manage to get a better success rate than that! Ah well...I will make the best of a bad situation and if I don't get placed in time for serial days this week i'll just have to be extra prepared on the one's the week after! :D

I am in London with Scott and we just ate at La Tasca and now are eating Haribo so I am quite happy! I also went to my fave jewelerry (sp!) shop and i bought a present for my friend's birthday! So the placement list came out yesterday but I don't have one yet...ah well if I don't know I can't stress...I've resigned to finding out at last minute, and if i do i will just put up with it! I can't wait to be in school although as I said earlier am also nervous. People are majorly stressing bout them but I plan to stay positive, if i have to travel its only 4 weeks...lots of my friends have to get up stupid hours every day for work...am sure I will moan along the way to all of you but I am also sure I will cope...I want to be a teacher and if it means a bit of hassle this year I shall just have to do that I guess! And there are 200 other people in same position...Nic for example has to go to Tonbridge every morning! I am going to repeat the mantra "STAY POSITIVE" and remind myself why I am doing the course...so far have had lots of fun and am sure the placement will be the same :)

So I was planning on going to Scott's tonight for the weekend but he has got a cold and so we both are thinking maybe I shouldn't go because I can't afford to get a cold right now because I am very very busy next week and in school for the first time etc etc...plus am away in York next weekend so would be good to have a weekend to sort out stuff.....but I obviously want to see scott...argh I can't make decisions! What do people think? Train not until 9.20 so have a while to decide. Now am going to to productive stuff. Karoake last night was lots of fun...we only did one song (Paradise City for some unknown reason) but was just good to be out having fun etc!

I'm going to be in school for the first time thursday and friday of next week (but we won't find out where until end of this week/maybe next week!) and am slightly nervous and excited all at same time. Also its wednesday now and I am exhausted, which is hardly surprising because have had three long full up days...with work to do in evenings afterwards. I have that next week too and then actual school on thursday and friday! EEK! We go into the school where we will do our first placement (which is four weeks long for me as an MFLer) and we dont have to teach but we should do a story or something to practice talking to the whole class, and we have to find out as much as we can about the school and get hold of their weekly plans and organise with the teacher which lessons we will teach and when...week one of the placement we do about one lesson a day and some group work and some team teaching...by week 4 should be teaching 50% of the day! It seems really strange because we haven't really learnt anything yet...lol! On the serial days we also have to do some observation tasks. We have to make a big file for the placement (which reminds me...need to get one as i have used all of mine already!) It's quite scary and overwhelming, feels like we are being thrown in at the deep end a bit and we don't even know where until right before we start! right now it's 5pm and i want to go to sleep already...i went to write up notes from science today but the power point hasn't been put up yet...so instead i think i will have dinner early, then do science then have a REALLY early night! have induction at the gym tomorrow and an ICT lesson and then thankfully have nothing until monday so hopefully can catch up on all the reading and whatnot that I'm too tired to do in the evenings...need to buy more paper too as I have nearly used a whole printer pile and notepad in two weeks! Tomorrow night we are having a well-deserved i feel night off and going to do a house cocktail evening followed by karoake! should be good :)

Today was loooong...and its only monday! But have thursday afternoon and friday off so only two more days, haha! 11-6 lectures today, scott left at 5 this morning and i didn't get back to sleep properly..so am going to bed now as have 9-7 tomorrow! (EEK!) I joined the gym this morning (woop) and they were lovely and are going to help me design a programme so i can look after my back! Only 35£ for the year too :D Went to Yoga this evening which i absolutely loved! I wanted to do pilates but it clashes with my classes so I did Yoga instead. I was happily surprised at how much I was able to do, some of the things I couldn't complete extend into but mostly I was able to do it and it felt good too! Considering I had major surgery on my back not too long ago I'm quite chuffed, I spoke to the lady at the end and she said I'd done well so that's good! I loved the relaxation at the end...this course is shaping up to be busy busy busy so was nice to have 15 minutes just completely relaxing and thinking about that moment and nothing else. Think am going to really enjoy doing it each week and feel I have found something I can do other than the course...I used to horse ride but can't anymore and have been feeling that I am lacking a hobby/something other than work and friends (my real ones not the tv show though maybe the tv show too, haha!) etc! I'd forgotten that wonderful feeling you get after exercise because all I got was pain! Now I have that amazing pumped up energy feeling! Anyway...gotta write blog for english then go to sleep as up at half 7!

I haven't written in my livejournal for over a year now but am writing now because I want to document my last week or so, in which I had spinal surgery! It's been such a roller-coaster involving feeling the most ill I have possibly ever felt and then stupidly happy (when I stood up on my own for the first time) all in the same week! So I'm writing this, mainly for me and for anyone else who is interested to find out exactly what I had done and why!

Yesterday we went to an Erfurt Fest called 'Honky Tonk'! There were 18+ bars all with live music and you paid 9euros in advance and got a wristband and could go round them all. And it was great! We went to about 7 or so of the bars, i didn't realy count, and the atmosphere around town was great cos there were people everywhere having a great time. for example at one place we met the wonderful sarah and so we all screamed (as drunk girls do) and hugged her and everyone else around decided to start screaming to so they whole street was cheering, was very amusin! and the best place we went in was this medieval bar, where they had clay pots insted of glasses and the waiters have on old fashioned clothes and bits. there was supposed to be irish music there but in the big room upstairs you couldnt hear that, so michelle and claire anne, our irish lasses, decided to start singing themselves, and so we did, and then the whole pub starting singing with us, and having competitions to see who could sing the best! it was absolutely fantastic :-D then we went to another place and everyone was there, the mexicans, the irish the english and the americans, and i had a great time with everyone :-)

so yeah this is a happy post

and today is my one year anniversary with scott!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SCOTT, i love you sooooo much :-D

It's suddenly summer! Don't quite know where spring went but its all lovely and hot outside..and according to nico, a german its just gonna get hotter from now on! I went to town to post my mummys birthday present and there are people everywhere and there is a really nice atmosphere. I was thinking that I'm pretty damn happy at the moment, cos have great group of friends here and a wonderful boyfriend (even though he is far away) and is nice weather at last! I am slightly worried about money and was getting annoyed about module choices next year (though think is sorted now) but we shall ignore that and be happy!

Yesterday we (me, claire and sarah) looked after our teachers little boy while she was teaching a class, is because we are doing a class on second language acquisition with her, and he is biligual and will only speak english to native english speakers, his english is amazing and he was sooo lovely. he is four years old and sooo intelligent, plus he loves thomas the tank enginge! he even picked us all daisys. it was so odd because he has a slight german accent and occasionaly adds in german words but other than that his english is same as an english 4 year olds. very cool. he can just switch betweent the two.

today there is a party in my building, this is good as = cheap (they've asked us all to bring one euro) and im currently in saving mode, so that i can afford berlin with hayley and home to see york..

oh i havent posted anything! Hayley is coming to see me on the 4th of may and she is staying for a week and then we are going to berlin at the end of the week! And I dont have classes on mondays and fridays so I'm going to York for a weekend at end of may (there is a bank holiday on thurs 25 so can go thurs come back monday), also my parents and brother are coming for my birthday, which also happens to be the weekend of the best festival in erfurt :-D My friends are all swapping rooms so that mum and dad and david can stay and not have to find an expensive hotel.

last weekend i went to dresden with the international students, it was great to get to know more of them, and i had such a lovely time with everyone, esp my york girls!

cant think of anything else to write and this is a bit rambley anyway! so byeeee

The semester break is over! Im back in Germany now, and while it is nice to be back i am now missing scott cos he went home yesterday :-(

I had a nice break, a wonderful time in York with Scott, then two weeks in america with my brother and then a bit of time with my folks before coming back here with scott. america was fantastic, i didnt seem much in colorado, but in new york i saw tons..i loved skating at rockefeller centre and i loved to boat ride round manhattan, and also i met leigh ann and we ate dinner in the village, twas lovely to see her outside germany! then this week has been great with scott here. the rest of the yorkies have turned up too, and i've had a lovely time with them, sarah in particular, we just seemed to have clicked and have spent lots of time together eating ice cream and drinking beer, and she gets on great with scott. having scott here was amazing, he just fitted in perfectly, waking up to him every day was lovely (even though the bed is teeeny) and i fell even more in love with him. we did lots together, we went to weimar with char and claire and dustin and charlies parents, and we went to fairy caverns and we went on the fair lots and i took him to ice hockey (last game of season!) and we had some nice relaxing lazy days too ;-) was great having him see where i live too cos now i can say 'i went to anger today' and he will know exactly where i mean :-D

i miss him soooo much today, last night i watched movies at sarahs till late but then i couldnt sleep cos was missing him and the flat was all empty without him. was odd to get up for toilet in night and not have him there and bits. Today am feeling bit lonely cos everyone has lectures and leigh ann hasnt reappeared yet (where are you??) and i have to read a book for my class so cant go find anyone anyway really..but am going shopping with claires new roommate chrissy and sarah later so that shud be good. (chrissy is great, she's sarahs tutor, and she is very friendly and also was at york last semester and so we can talk to her about york, tis fantastic!) this bit is gonna be long without scott, but i have organised my timetable so i have mondays and fridays free so i can go see him at some point, and also i know ill have fun with all my mates here for sure, i just need to get used to him not being here again. next weekend is the dresden trip, so that will be nice way to get to know more people and not sit on my own and miss scott. then soon is my year anniversary with him and in a bit hayley is coming to visit me for a week and we're gonna go to berlin and then mum and dad will be out here for my birthday..so i know am gonna have a busy and fun semester!

i have to go get washing now so ill stop rambling on!

here is a picture of me and scott, that i love cos is here in erfurt and we just both look happy :-)
